Obituary for Alfred S. Touma

The family of Alfred S. Touma is sad to announce that he passed peacefully at his home in West Caldwell on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Said and Marcella (Sharbel) Touma, it was in Brooklyn that Al was raised and where he met and married the love of his life, Rosamaria “Rosemarie” DiTeodoro. Together they raised their family in West Caldwell where he has lived for 58 years.
Mr. Touma proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War as a member of the Special Category Army with Air Force Unit (SCARWAF).

Alfred was a graduate of City College of New York with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired as the Director of Performance Engineering with Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation in Clinton, NJ., where he worked for more than 35 years. During his tenure at Foster Wheeler, he was credited with multiple patents in the steam and boiler discipline.

A dedicated family man, Al enjoyed being a regular Sunday mass attendee at Saint Aloysius church and very much enjoyed the community of Faith. In his spare time, Al loved all kinds of sports, learning about history and spending time with his family.

He was pre deceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Rosemarie, who he joined in eternal life almost three years to the day of her passing. Surviving are his devoted children, John and his wife, Cathy of Montville, Marcella Racioppi and her husband, Ken, of Roseland and Stephen of Roselle Park; adored grandchildren, Rachel and Michael Touma, Ava and Nicholas Racioppi and Brian Touma as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at Garrett Jones Memorial Homes, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, NJ (973-228-7925) on Monday, January 31st from 4-8 pm. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Caldwell on Tuesday, February 1st at 10:30 am. The entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
