Obituary for Anthony J. Palombini

Anthony Joseph Palombini, 72, known to friends as Tony, passed away at home on April 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Jersey City and raised in Union City, Tony met his beloved wife of 50 years, Phyllis (nee DeBari), at a high school basketball game when they were 13 years old. Tony, Phyllis, and their children settled into their forever home in Roseland over three decades ago. Tony was a devoted father to Joseph and daughter-in-law Marina and Danielle and son-in-law John; an overjoyed pop pop to grandchildren, Ella, Andrew, and Owen; a caring older brother to his dear sister, Joann; and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Tony showered family and life-long friends with joy, warmth and humor and will be deeply missed. He cherished spending time and creating countless memories with those closest to him, especially at his summer home in South Seaside Park. He enjoyed fishing at sunrise on Midway Beach, followed by hours relaxing in the sand, under an umbrella, with a crossword puzzle in hand. He had a passion for cooking and golfing, and loved sharing his deep knowledge of trivia while watching Jeopardy.

Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday from 4-8 pm in the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland, NJ 07068, shookfarmer.com. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday 11:15 am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland, NJ. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Cooperman Barnabas Cancer Center.
