Obituary for Carol A. McCue

Carol Ann McCue, age 74, died suddenly and unexpectedly on November 9th, 2021, in Hartford, Connecticut.

She is survived by her sister, Linda (McCue) Hill; her nephews, Michael Palermo, Christopher Palermo (Jen Bauer Palermo), and Douglas Palermo; and her great-nieces and nephews, Sean, Jake, Colin, Ella, Judson, Dominic and Anna Palermo. Carol is also survived by her cousin, Deborah Sacco-Calderone, who was like a sister to her, her husband, Michael, and their daughters, Bianca and Gianna who have always been “nieces” to Carol. She is also survived by her numerous cousins and her wonderful neighbors & friends in Connecticut.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Florence (Desiderio) McCue and her brother-in-law, Bruce Hill. She also leaves behind her two beloved cats - two of many pets that Carol loved and cared for over the years.

Carol was born on April 3rd, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey. She graduated from the University of Michigan and went on to earn two Master of Arts degrees. After college, Carol settled in Connecticut and taught in the Hartford School District for over 30 years. She was an esteemed educator who introduced technology to the Hartford Schools, something for which she was honored at a State level. Carol was financial secretary for the Hartford Federation of Teachers for over thirteen years. While teaching she served as Union Representative. She was truly amazing with her generosity to her students, colleagues, and fellow Union members. Carol loved gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She was a tireless animal rights activist and was also an environmentalist. She was loved by all and will be sorely missed.

Kindly arrive on Friday, November 19th after 11:00 a.m. at Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J. A prayer service will be offered at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
