The family of Fred W. Jenkins, Jr. is sad to announce his passing on Saturday, November 6, 2021. He lived a remarkable life of 85 years.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 12th from 5-8 pm at the Shook ~ Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ. The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, November 13th at 1:00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Avenue, Essex Fells, NJ. Condolences and memories may be shared at shookfarmer.com.

Born in Montclair NJ, after living in Cedar Grove he was raised in Glen Ridge. He attended the Hackley School and Cornwall Academy before graduating from Glen Ridge High School. Fred was an electronic officer in the U.S. Coast Guard serving in Japan, Turkey and Brooklyn. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson College before working for Bogue Electric as an electronic specialist. He loved creating Heath Kit radios. As a teenager he loved spelunking in caves. An avid sports car enthusiast he met the love of his life, Bunny at Suburban Sports Car club sharing their love of cars. He was a worker at many race events at Lime Rock, CT Raceway and more. He loved photography, was a member of the West Essex Camera Club and won several awards.

Fred joined the firm Wilcox-Slidders of Newark and then Fairfield, a family industrial supply business of Bunny's and became president for 57 years. He served on many boards in the industrial business. Fred spent many years involved in the NNJR and SCCA race car events. An active Rotarian in the Newark and Fairfield Rotary Clubs, he was President several times. Fred served on the board of the West Essex Chamber of Commerce, the North Caldwell Historic Commission and was an active parishioner at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Essex Fells.

Predeceased by his parents Fred W. Jenkins Sr and Gertrude Bradley Jenkins, his son-in-law Walter Valentine.

In addition to his wife Bunny of 60 years, Fred is survived by daughter, Paige Valentine, son, Fred (Tad) W. Jenkins III and wife Tania. Brother H Bradley Jenkins, Sr and wife Lavinia, Grandchildren Garrett Valentine, (wife, Dana), Frank and Phoebe Jenkins. Proudly survived by great grand-daughter Lucy Valentine and great-grandson Fred Warren Valentine. Nieces and Nephews, Brad Jr., Denise, Sandy, Cameron, Jake, Jenna, Jason and Matthew.

Loved by his cats Pumpkin, Gordon and Shadow.
