Obituary for Jay D. Courter
Jay D. Courter, 82, of West Caldwell, N.J., passed away on December 3, 2021. A Prayer Service will be offered on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with memorial visitation following until 1:00 p.m. at Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J. Born in Montclair, N.J. to the late Donald A. and Alice Courter, Jay lived in Roseland before settling in West Caldwell. Prior to retiring, he was a sewer plant operator with the Township of West Caldwell. Jay enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, reading and spending time with his family.
Predeceased by his son, Russell Courter, his parents, and his sister, Phyllis.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Courter (nee: Rydgren); his children, Christopher Courter and Melissa Courter; grandchildren, Evan Courter, Riley Courter and Chatham Courter.
