Obituary for Joseph Ciampi, Jr.

Joseph Ciampi, Jr., 85, of Dover, N.J., passed peacefully on November 2, 2021, surrounded by his family. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 1-5 p.m. at Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J. Services begin on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Prayer Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, N.J. with entombment following the service. Born and raised in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Ciampi. His hobbies included restoring antique cars, building model cars and fixing anything that needed repair. He lived in Bloomfield and Clifton with his late wife, Constance Ciampi, where they raised their children for many years. He later moved to Dover to live with his partner, Claire Cartagena. He was an adventurous man who loved to travel the country in his motor home. Nicknamed “Bonnie and Clyde”, he and Claire loved taking long rides to nowhere to keep themselves on the go. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Public Service Transportation and Atlas Industrial Manufacturing Company as a commercial driver. He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union and the Mustang Club of America.

He is survived by his beloved partner, Claire Cartagena; his cherished children, eldest daughter, Antoinette Ciampi-Camporini, and husband, Thomas, his son, Joseph Ciampi, III, and wife, Phyllis, and his youngest daughter, Victoria Manga, and husband, Wil; his grandchildren, Joseph, Natalie, Olivia, Thomas, Jett, Jerico, and Sofia; his brother, Thomas Ciampi, and wife, Catherine, and his deceased brother, Anthony Ciampi. He is also survived by his two nieces, Lisa Breen and Michele Skrbic, their spouses and children. He is also survived by his extended family, Michele Suckey (late husband John) and Josh and Gabriel; Adam Cartagena (Zhenmei) and Zhiyi, Samantha Simonsen (Chris) and Emily, Bonnie Weimershiemer (Mark) and Zoe, Simone, Schuyler and Jordan, and Scott Cartegena (Yelena) and he is survived by his cousins and friends.
