Obituary for Nunzio Lombardo
Nunzio Lombardo, of Morristown, New Jersey, passed away on January 26, 2022 in Morristown Medical Center. Nunzio was born on March 24, 1935 in Catania, Italy to Dr. Santo Lombardo and Maria Petrillo Lombardo. He was married to his beloved wife Lucia for almost sixty years.
Nunzio completed his studies and military service in Italy before immigrating to the United States in the mid-1960’s to pursue the American Dream. Nunzio owned several successful Italian restaurants, most recently Mario’s Restaurant in West Milford, New Jersey. Even after retiring from the restaurant business, Nunzio enjoyed cooking for his family and friends as a way of expressing his affection. Nunzio was an avid Italian soccer fan and loved classic cars, especially his 1981 Corvette. He loved being the surrogate grandfather to his late brother’s grandchildren Steven Ugo, Caroline Francesca and Alexander Edward.
Nunzio is predeceased by his parents, his beloved daughter Maria Goldovsky and his brothers Ugo Lombardo and Aurelio Lombardo. He is survived by his wife Lucia, grandchildren Joseph Goldovsky and Angelina Goldovsky, brother Donato Lombardo (Melinda), sister-in-law Francesca Lombardo and his brothers’ children, Maria Batta (Steven), Lisa Lombardo, Daniele Lombardo (Katharine) and Maria Lombardo, as well as many nieces and nephews in Italy.
