Obituary for Richard E. "Buddy" Blind

Richard E. Blind
December 23, 1923 -November 7, 2021

Richard E. Blind, “Buddy” of W. Orange, NJ passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on November 7, 2021. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, November 9 from 3-8 pm with a prayer service to be offered at 7:00 pm at Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, NJ. Interment at Restland Memorial Park, E. Hanover will be private. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookfarmer.com.

Born and raised in W. Orange to Charles and Lillian (nee Sherriffs) Blind he was a lifelong W. Orange resident. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during W.W. II, stationed in the S. Pacific from 1943-1945. Upon his return from service, he married Jeanne T. Force in 1947. The family would later welcome three sons, Richard, Thomas and James. Buddy worked as a packaging engineer for IT&T Defense, Clifton, NJ retiring after 35 years. A passion for cars especially convertibles, Buddy was the owner of a 442 Cutlass Supreme Convertible, which he meticulously cared after. He cherished his time spent at the Jersey Shore, vacationing in Chadwick Beach with his family and friends. Buddy was also a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #22 in W. Orange.

Predeceased by his parents, devoted wife, Jeanne T. Blind and siblings, Charles, Jack, Robert, and William Blind he is survived by his beloved sons, Richard Blind, Fr. Thomas Blind and James Blind and his wife, Pamela; precious grandchildren, Rick, Jaclyn, Andrew and Jimmy; and 8 treasured great-grandchildren.
